DEXTERTON CORPORATION started in 1962 and was then known as Chesterton Industrial Corporation. Chesterton started out as a hardware store buying and selling hardware items. In 1972, Chesterton started its own importation of industrial hardware items and became the sole agent for SIA (Swiss Industrial Abrasive). In the 1980's, Chesterton became one of the leading importers of Plaster of Paris and was also steadily increasing its product lines. And in 1988, Chesterton Industrial Corporation was renamed to Dexterton Industrial Corporation and established a new division called the building materials division.
